Looking for a New Way to Witness?

Posted on May 25, 2009

This is a troubled world—people everywhere are concerned and perplexed about current happenings. Your desire is to share your faith and so you hand someone a book. They reply, “I don’t have time to read!” Or perhaps they say, “I don’t read much!” How many of you, when met with an opportunity to witness to a friend, family member, or even a stranger you just met, let the moment pass? Maybe you were shy, or you didn't know what to say.

These were some of the issues Carolina Conference member Tom Mills was having while trying to reach out to his community. Then one day, as he was reading one of his favorite books, Steps to Christ, he felt impressed that more people should be hearing this message. And in a way that removes all of these objections and roadblocks. So he developed the inspired message into an audiobook, read in today's style and easy to understand. With the burdens and troubles on our minds these days, he gave it the title, "Finding Peace in a Troubled World." As an audiobook, the age-old objection, "I don't have time to read," Is replaced with, "Oh, great! I can listen to this in my car!""I wanted this to be something that people could just quickly pull out and share," says Mills. "Everyone is talking these days about what they're going through. This kind of conversation
opens the door to reach them with the hope Christ offers."

“I think it is excellent! The content and reading style is great," said Robert Banks, Ministerial Director of the Potomac Conference of Seventhday Adventists.

Jan Ashcraft, a member of another denomination, was blessed by the message. “My son and I enjoyed this CD. We listened on the way to school each morning. It is a very simple explanation of accepting Christ and helped us both understand more of what Christ did for us. ”

The audiobook is now available through the ACBC this week at Camp Meeting. You can hear a sample of the book at the Ministerial Department booth on the second fl oor of the Terrace Hotel. Come and check out this “great new tool for witnessing
